Regarding the whole Narya/Aryan thing- Yes it’s all very dumb.

But I will admit to wondering-

could a white nationalist rationalize their marriage to an Indian person based on the theory of Proto Indo European ancestry? I know Razib has written about the Indian/Aryan connection but I can’t remember the details. From what I can tell, “Aryan” was an ancient self designation in South Asia and then, centuries later the term was appropriated by European racialist types. I guess what I’m wondering is- based on this connection , could a committed Aryan Nation type stretch their racial hierarchy framework to include Indians? I mean- both cultures love swastikas.

Also- why isn’t Joy Reid on this tip?

Maegan and Sarah—just talk to Kmele (of The Fifth Column fame). He’ll give you any “pass” you want.

Camille Paglia! That would be great.

As far as what she is up to— a couple of years ago I wrote an email to her asking her if she would write an essay on Plato’s Symposium— I would be interested in her thoughts about a story of several homoerotic ancient Greeks talking about erotic love.

I don’t know her but I find her fascinating. I didn’t expect a response but her assistant or publisher wrote back that she is working on a book about Native American art. I felt special.😻

I totally get that Meghan has had no exposure to black sororities (given her attendance at Vassar and Columbia MFA). But I was a bit surprised that Sarah didn't make a little observation of them at her large land-grant college in Texas.

I can attest that the "Asian Girl/White Guy" pairings among selective college students and the professional/managerial class date back to at least the late 1980's. Among this group of women, Usha Vance is a bit of an outlier, as East Asians are far more prevalent than South Asians (I would guess 85% to 15%).

One side note that may be worth studying is that the white men seem far more likely to be kind of "nerdy" in demeanor and appearance. In other words, you are far more likely to see Mark Zuckerberg and Jed Rubenfeld (Tiger Mom's husband) than Brad Pitt and Tom Brady. The demographics may simply be a reflection of the spaces where these folks meet.

The security detail discourse has been a stark reminder of how differently I see this stuff from even people I might usually agree with. I can see multiple reasons why having female personal detail would be preferable, especially for women. This idea that "men are hardwired to protect" is nullified by the history of men's abuse of women, is it not? One of the "gotchas" to women's fears of murder/abuse/rape is that it's usually perpetrated by men you know--men who should want to protect you. And there's just looking at how aggressive leftist men have been towards "disobedient" women online-- I don't think men are somehow immune to turning their aggression towards someone they are allegedly hardwired to protect.

Still listening, but cracking up so far.

Shannon Watts is intersectional. Cringe white woman x pro-natalist (five kids).

I watched the Elon/Peterson interview and I did not take Elon’s comment about his son as if he was saying his son was “dead to him” in the traditional sense. What he said was his son is dead and the woke killed him. THEN explained that “dead naming” was a term the woke use for trans people. So he was basically using their terminology to say his son was dead and they killed him.

He clearly was devastated by the whole thing and I wouldn’t be surprised if that is one of the reasons he bought Twitter. What man/woman wouldn’t go to the ends of the earth to destroy the organization that destroyed your child/family? Especially now that we know what an absolute scandal it all is!

I have long thought that the only way people will wake up to what is really going on is if it happens to them/their family. Unfortunately for the trans movement (not adult trans people who just want to live their lives in peace) they messed with the wrong person.

I also think it's rather rich for that side to use (and insist WE use) a term like dead-naming and then be appalled that the person whose name is now dead might also be dead in other ways.

One more thought, the moment Elon said that was so visibly surprising to Peterson he clearly didn’t know what to say but he appeared to go into “psychotherapist” mode which looked like he was just trying to be supportive instead of getting Elon to clarify what he said (like a better interviewer may have been able to do.)

Unfortunately now the whole thing appears like Elon meant something else. Not sure if Elon really cares what other people think though.

It's possible I'm commenting too late for this to hit anyone's radar, but I'd be interested to know the title of the 'Lives of the Intellectuals' book that Sarah mentioned.

Excellent, funny conversation. Thumbs up.

It really sucks that you basically have to comment the day a video drops for anyone to see your comment. No solutions.. just bitching about it. I can rarely listen right away.

The alternative on the really busy shows is that they're full of crazy people and even if they're not, it's hard to find older comments. Substack has some work to do on its interface.

I think the men in question just have an attraction to brown & asian women and invent a post hoc ideological justification because of the taboo on interracial relationships on the online right (that taboo might have a causal link with the attraction)

It's a good thing they finally hit on this discussion of which group of foreign women are considered the best by the American man.

Kind of debunks the whole misogyny thing if you think about it.

My concern has always been that we're letting the average American woman down by abandoning her for greener pastures, but those pastures are indeed a whole lot greener. And among the minority of people I know who are married, the number who are married to foreign born women is probably over half.
